A New England Tradition of Clinical Learning

The story of the New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis begins in 1956, when a group of healthcare professionals came together to deepen the study and responsible clinical use of hypnosis. NESCH's inaugural workshop featured Milton H. Erickson, MD, whose work helped influence generations of clinicians.

From that beginning, NESCH developed as a regional home for serious learning, thoughtful practice, and professional exchange. Its history reflects a long-standing belief that clinical hypnosis is most valuable when grounded in sound healthcare training, practiced ethically, and adapted to the individual needs of patients.

Learning Across Healthcare Disciplines

For generations, NESCH has brought together professionals from medicine, psychology, social work, dentistry, nursing, counseling, and other healthcare disciplines.

Members bring different perspectives and clinical experiences, while sharing a commitment to ethical practice, patient-centered care, professional growth, and the responsible use of clinical hypnosis.

Learning That Moves Into Clinical Practice

Education remains at the heart of NESCH. Introductory, intermediate, and advanced training helps clinicians develop practical skills progressively while exploring the theory, evidence, ethics, and clinical application of hypnosis.

Workshops, webinars, quarterly programs, and other professional learning opportunities help clinicians continue developing long after their first formal hypnosis training.

Clinical Learning Is More Than Lecture

NESCH education creates opportunities for clinicians to observe clinical demonstrations, practice skills, discuss cases, ask questions, and learn through interaction with experienced faculty and professional peers.

Skills practice and consultation opportunities help clinicians move from understanding hypnosis conceptually to integrating it thoughtfully and responsibly into professional practice.
